Welcome to the Upper Wensum Benefice

WELCOME to the UPPER WENSUM BENEFICE, DIOCESE of NORWICH.

The benefice is situated south of Fakenham and north west of Dereham.

The benefice name reflects the course of the upper River Wensum, flowing in a clockwise 'spiral' through several of the constituent parishes.

The source of the River Wensum is 100m inside the boundary of the parish of Gateley, then it flows through the parishes of Horningtoft and Whissonsett, [the parishes of Raynham and Helhoughton] Dunton, [the parishes of Hempton and Fakenham] and then on through the parishes of Ryburgh, close to the eastern boundary of Gateley, and finally on south through Guist, North Elmham and on, eventually, to Norwich and the River Yare.
